Among the young musicians of the theatre ensemble he has in the 2009/10 season accomplished the largest step ahead: The Polish baritone singer Piotr Prochera,
hired two years ago to the Musiktheater im Revier when its musical director changed, is acting on the solid foundation of a profoundly educated voice,
providing him with a main repertoire that may distract up and down – i.e. to tenor and to bass.
His repertoire meanwhile extends from Bernstein to Wagner.
At the Gelsenkirchen theatre where he already surprised in the “Eichbaum Opera” and in “Candide”, he gained the hearts of the audience as a witty Papageno
in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute“, equipped with entertainment and fleshly scope, as the excitable Mr. Fluth in Nicolai’s “Merry Wives of Windsor”,
as comedian Harlequin in Strauss` “Ariadne on Naxos”, and as Sir Robert Cecil in Britten’s rarely played opera “Gloriana”.
Piotr Prochera, born 1980 in Toruń, Poland, first hired to Weimar, already received several prices and awards.
The Gelsenkirchen Theatre Award should encourage him even more to remain with the main artists of the MiR ensemble within the foreseeable future.

Belonging to the theatre’s ensemble since the 2008/09 season, Prochera, native to Toruń, Poland, more than convinced the critics with his rôles as Papageno in “The Magic Flute“
and as Robert Cecil in “Gloriana“.
